Electrically operated valves – Series MN

Flexibility and precision for demanding applications

The MN series from AIRTEC offer electrically actuated valves and accessories that are characterized by their versatility and high precision. These valves are ideal for controlling pneumatic systems and actuators in industrial applications. With valve designs such as 3/2-way, 5/2-way and 5/3-way valves, the MN series meets a wide range of control requirements.

The valves in the MN series have connection options in G1/4 or G1/2 and Namur and a nominal width of 6 mm or 14 mm. They are designed for temperature ranges from -10°C to +70°C and offer protection class IP 65 for dust and water protection. ATEX certification is available as an option, enabling use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Throttle plates are available as accessories for regulating the speed of actuators. These accessories offer a connection in G1/4 or Namur and a nominal width of 5 mm. They are suitable for temperatures from -25°C to +70°C and are also available with optional ATEX certification.

The valves support both DC voltages (12 V, 24 V) and AC voltages (24 V, 115 V, 230 V) and therefore offer a high degree of flexibility for integration into electrical control systems.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about solenoid valves, applications and customised solutions from AIRTEC.

When is an electrically actuated valve the right choice over a pneumatically actuated one?

Electrically actuated valves are ideal for use in electrical control architectures. Solenoid valves integrate directly into PLC systems. They require no separate pneumatic control signal and allow centralized control via fieldbus or a multi-pin connector. If, on the other hand, no power supply is available, or operation is required in hazardous (Ex) areas without electrical certification, pneumatic actuation is the simpler choice.

How do ATEX versions of electrical valves differ from those of pneumatic valves?

With pneumatic valves, the ATEX version often differs little in design from the standard valve. With electrical valves, the ATEX version must always feature a specially certified solenoid, for example an encapsulated coil in which all live parts are fully enclosed. ATEX solenoid valves must therefore be ordered explicitly as such.

Are UL/CSA-approved versions available?

Yes. For export to North America, AIRTEC solenoid valves can be equipped with UL/CSA-approved solenoid coils.

What compressed air quality is required for the electrically actuated valves?

All AIRTEC solenoid valves are rated for compressed air according to ISO 8573-1:2010, Class 7:2:4 (filtered, oil-free, and dried). The pressure dew point must be at least 10 °C below the lowest ambient temperature encountered. The requirements are identical to those of the pneumatically actuated series.
