Whenever no control signal is available: without a power supply, in set-up and manual operation, for shutting off and exhausting, and for end-position sensing without electronic sensors. If the machine is electrically controlled anyway, a solenoid valve is the better choice.
Mechanically operated means that a machine part switches the valve, for example via a plunger or roller lever. Manually operated means that an operator switches it via a hand lever, push button or foot pedal. This distinction is not defined by any standard.
AIRTEC does not offer dedicated NO versions. However, many series allow flow in both directions and can be operated as NO by connecting the compressed air supply to port 3 instead of port 1.
Yes. Selected series are available as ATEX versions, and a large proportion are approved for use in hazardous areas, as they have no electrical ignition source of their own; mechanical ignition sources are assessed depending on the installation conditions. A prerequisite is a ported exhaust with a threaded connection so that the exhaust air can be routed out of the zone. Small plunger and push-button valves with an open exhaust hole do not meet this requirement.
The service life corresponds to that of the other AIRTEC series, as the valve internals are largely identical. In practice, the number of switching cycles is rarely the limiting factor here. Spare parts are available for wearing parts such as the lever.
Compressed air to ISO 8573-1:2010, Class 7:2:4 (filtered, oil-free, dried and free from aggressive constituents). However, the pressure dew point must be at least 10 °C below the lowest expected ambient temperature. The same requirements apply as for the pneumatically and electrically operated series.
